About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineer (Java Backend) to join our Risk and Identity Solutions (VAS) department in Bangalore. This role is perfect for early-career professionals (6 months to 2 years of experience) who are passionate about building highly scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
As part of Visa’s technology team, you will design and implement cutting-edge solutions, work on full-service payment management systems, and contribute to global innovations in fraud prevention and payment security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evolve scalable, distributed backend components using functional programming.
- Participate in requirement gathering, functional & technical design documentation.
- Build API testing frameworks, integration patterns, and end-to-end tests.
- Contribute to design reviews, ensuring functional and non-functional requirements are met.
- Review team code and take accountability for development and testing activities.
- Collaborate across teams to drive productivity and deliver high-quality software.
- Work on proof of concepts and evaluate emerging technologies.
Qualifications
Basic:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred:
- 0–2 years of software engineering experience (Java backend development).
- Strong knowledge of Java, J2EE, JavaScript, XML, Web Services, RDBMS, and unit testing.
- Hands-on experience with shell scripting.
- Exposure to Cassandra, Solr, or NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI), code coverage, and agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team-driven environment.
