About the Role
At Uber Freight, data is the driving force behind smarter logistics and optimized freight operations. We’re looking for an innovative Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team and help us build a scalable data infrastructure that powers analytics, machine learning, and intelligent decision-making.
As a Data Engineer, you’ll design and manage pipelines, canonical datasets, and integration frameworks that unlock actionable insights and accelerate business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build scalable, reliable, and high-performance big data workflow platforms for AI/ML and data teams.
- Implement and maintain data integration services and reusable frameworks.
- Enhance reliability, data quality, and system observability through automation.
- Collaborate with product and analytics teams to improve data utilization and efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in data engineering or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in software development using Python or Java.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems and big data tools (Kafka, Flink, Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, Presto).
- Hands-on experience with ETL, data warehousing, and pipeline frameworks (Spark, Hive, Presto).
- Solid understanding of data modeling and scalable architecture.
- Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
