Role Overview – Software Engineer I (Data Engineering)

We are looking for a Software Engineer I (Data Engineer) to join our mission-critical Paid Media Engineering team in Bangalore, India. This role is ideal for fresh graduates or professionals with 0–2 years of experience who are passionate about data engineering, cloud computing, and scalable distributed systems.

As part of this team, you will design, build, and optimize high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant data pipelines that drive Nike’s Digital Transformation and Paid Media growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Build, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-native solutions using Python, Java, Spark, Databricks, Hive, and SQL.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Work with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Kafka) and implement CI/CD pipelines for continuous software delivery.
  • Collaboration: Partner with global engineering, product, and program teams to deliver innovative features.
  • Database Management: Design efficient data storage, retrieval, and performance-optimized solutions.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop unit, integration, and automated E2E tests to ensure high-quality code.
  • Agile & Best Practices: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and conduct peer code reviews.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of experience in software/data engineering.
  • Strong skills in Python or Java, Databricks, Hive, Spark, EMR, SQL.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, ETL pipelines, data streaming, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud services (AWS).
  • Experience in CI/CD, DevOps practices, Agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
