Position Overview
We are hiring a Principal Consultant – Java Backend Engineer to join our Wholesale Banking technology team. You’ll play a key role in integrating the Loan Approval System with other critical services in a complex ecosystem. Working in a cross-functional global squad with experts from Dublin, Amsterdam, Manila, and beyond, you will develop scalable, secure, and high-performance business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade backend applications for Wholesale Banking.
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to transform business requirements into robust solutions.
- Advocate for scalable, future-proof architectures using the latest Java and microservices technologies.
- Maintain high code quality through testing, code reviews, refactoring, and debt management.
- Work with Agile methodologies and participate in DevOps pipelines for continuous delivery.
- Implement integration with Kafka, MQ/JMS, REST APIs, and Oracle databases.
- Monitor application health using Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, and ensure system reliability (SRE best practices).
Technical Skillset Required
- Core Java (Java 11+), Streams API, OOP, and Design Patterns.
- Spring Framework / Spring Boot & RESTful API development.
- Messaging Systems: Kafka, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streaming, MQ, JMS.
- Databases: Oracle SQL, Oracle GoldenGate.
- DevOps Tools: Azure DevOps, Kubernetes on OpenShift, Docker.
- Test Automation: JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, Cucumber, PACT.
- Observability Tools: Grafana, Kibana, Elastic.
- Cloud-Native & Microservices Architecture experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Preferred: BE/B.Tech, MCA, MSc, or BSc in Computer Science.
- Proven experience as a Java Backend Engineer in enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, containerization, and monitoring solutions.
