Role Overview
As an AI Engineer Intern, you will work on real-world healthcare and pharmaceutical document processing challenges. This role is ideal for students or early-career professionals passionate about Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, LLMs, and Document AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate ML/DL models for pharma-related document analysis.
- Build OCR/OMR pipelines and extract structured data from unstructured documents (prescriptions, clinical forms, regulatory filings, etc.).
- Work with LLMs such as Qwen, Nuextract, and open-source foundation models using LangChain.
- Write clean, scalable code in Python and occasionally Java for back-end or integration tasks.
- Assist in prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and LLM-powered search workflows.
- Support dataset preparation including labeling, annotation, and preprocessing.
- Collaborate with data scientists and SMEs to refine accuracy and performance of deployed models.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python and Java.
- Solid understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and NLP concepts.
- Exposure to LLM frameworks such as LangChain, Qwen, Nuextract, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience or academic projects in OCR/OMR, Computer Vision, or Document AI.
- Familiarity with ML/AI libraries: Transformers, OpenCV, Tesseract, SpaCy, PyTorch/TensorFlow.
- Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Background in Biomedical AI, Healthcare Informatics, or Pharmaceutical NLP is highly desirable.
- Experience with large PDF/TIFF document sets and annotation tools.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval, and LLM deployment methods.
