The Data Engineering team is part of the Cloud Technology Group, delivering cutting-edge cloud and edge networking solutions. We design, implement, deploy, and operate data streaming platforms that empower product teams to develop high-performing, operationally safe, and secure products in an agile way.
Role Overview
As a Software Engineer I, you will join a team of software and platform engineers focused on enhancing platform core services and building tools to maintain 100% service availability.
You’ll contribute directly to hands-on platform development, collaborate with peers in design/code reviews, and design DevOps solutions to streamline software delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to coding, debugging, and testing for platform development.
- Build, integrate, support, and improve data streaming services on the Akamai Platform.
- Collect and analyze system performance metrics.
- Conduct code and design reviews and document your work.
- Design and develop DevOps tools for seamless software delivery.
- Create processes and tools to monitor, analyze, maintain, and improve data pipelines usability & observability.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with at least 2 programming languages: Golang, Python, C/C++, Rust.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and Linux networking (TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, HTTP).
- Understanding of big data platforms such as Apache Pulsar, Apache Flink, or Apache Spark.
- Skills in Bash scripting and performance analysis.
